NFSA Call to Action

Updated: Apr 19, 2022

Action Needed to Support the

High-Rise Fire Sprinkler Incentive Act

& Public Housing Fire Safety Act

From NFSA:

Hello, friends and advocates of fire and life safety,

We need your help to gain co-sponsors for two pieces of federal legislation that will save lives and protect property. We need you to utilize our system to contact your Congressperson and Senator.

The High-Rise Fire Sprinkler Incentive Act (H.R. 6192/S. 3346) and the Public Housing Fire Safety Act (H.R. 2638/S.265) are two pieces of legislation that will save lives of civilians and firefighters by providing incentives and funding for fire sprinklers to be installed in high-risk occupancies.

Recent fires with tragic outcomes have reminded us all of why it's important for us to engage and be involved in the process. Not just the fires in Philadelphia and New York City, but fires all across America that have claimed lives.

The death toll in America since the first of 2022 continues to climb. The number of people who die in fires by the end of this month will be over 300. Approximately 17% of these deaths are children under age 14, almost 20% are people over age 65, and in some cases, whole families perished in the tragedy.

The NFSA GrassRoots report was distributed yesterday to members and non-members. This message is coming to you from our advocate's database, which means you've engaged before. Thank you for that! Please send this to your friends and family so we can build our list of advocates.

Take care, stay safe, and stay well.

Shane Ray
